Troy began playing paintball in 1996 after a friend recommended he check it out.  Unlike most people that play paintball for the first time he didn't go as part of a group. When he arrived he was asked if he wanted to jump in with an amateur paintball team "Cockatoo Creed" to make up numbers for their training session, unfortunately the team already had a full roster so they didn't invite him to join full time.  Troy was unable to find a team in Victoria to join full time however undeterred Troy did what he needed to do to get his paintball marker licence and gear and in the process began a friendship with Mike Whybrew the owner of Paintball Shop in Sydney, it was Mike who introduced Troy to Bad Company Sydney, who gladly accepted him onto their roster. They would go onto win the Australian Paintball Players League amatuer division in 1997. He then joined Apparition and the won the same div in 1998, he then join Rat Pak and they won Pro div 1999, 2000 and 2001. He then retired for several years before making his comeback in 2008
